Keeping in touch, everywhere, all the time

The other benefit of this is that I'll probably end up posting a great deal more on MySpace and such - where (unfortunately) a lot of my friends have migrated.  It'll all end up on LiveJournal of course, which is entirely my real blogging "home", but now I won't be such a ghost in the other online social spaces that I've paid such half-assed attention to in the recent past.

Setting up wordpress tonight

For someone that's now expected to be fairly code-savvy at work, it's like I'm feeling my way along in the dark with this whole WordPress thing at the moment. The goal is to get my blog primarily centered on my website and then "franchised" out to the various social networking sites like LiveJournal, Xanga, MySpace, Facebook, etc.  It's a really rich environment, this WordPress - there are widgets for putting dynamic content on your main blog page (my current one has a flash-based analog clock face and calendar that looks really nice), and there are plugins for accomplishing everything from search-engine-optimization to crossposting to the aforementioned networking sites. Still, it's touch and go... There are usually a half dozen or more plugins to do the same thing - so it's a grab bag of what's going to be the right choice.
